Mary Virginia Rutledge

David and Mary Cornelia's third child, Mary Virginia Rutledge, was born 12 March 1926 in Memphis, Tennessee. She married John F. Scott in 1945 and they were divorced in 1951. She then married Raymond B. Holiman and spent her adult life in Little Rock, Arkansas. She died there 4 September 1986.

Another Childhood Friend: Elizabeth Morelock

Here's another childhood friend from Charles David Rutledge's baby album. The picture is labeled:

"Celebrating the 4th. Tom, Elizabeth Morelock & Chas, July 4, 1924."

Nelson Wilkes of Memphis, Tennessee

Nelson Wilkes was evidently a good friend of Charles David Rutledge because there are several pictures of him in Charles David Rutledge's baby album. In case any of his descendants are looking for him, here are the photographs of him.

Millard Franklin Rutledge Family

David's brother Millard Franklin Rutledge, like all the Rutledge men, worked for the railroad. He married Tommie Elizabeth Chambers Morrow, widow of Fred Morrow, on 5 July 1911 in Saline County, Arkansas.

The Yates Family

David Oscar's sister Chloe Rutledge married Clyde Yates 8 November 1908. They raised their family on the Rutledge farm in Cordova after her brothers assigned their shares to her. Sometime in late 1920 or early 1921 David moved his family to Cordova, so Charlie's baby album has several photos of his cousins.

Here's an undated photo of Mabel Yates holding her baby brother Jack (full name Henry Mathew Yates). He was born 19 February 1921. Charlie told me Jack kept the family farm near Cordova after his parents died. In World War 2 he worked on the Big-Inch line, the pipeline built to bring oil from Texas to Illinois, then Pennsylvania. After the war it was converted to natural gas & became a transmission line for Texas Eastern.

David's Nieces: Mabel Yates and Chloe Ann Yates

When David's mother died her sons signed their parents' farm near Cordova, Tennessee, over to their sister Chloe and her husband, Clyde Yates.

These photos were taken with Chloe's daughters, Mabel and Chloe Ann. Both girls grew up to work as nutritionists and home economists, never marrying, but helping thousands in Tennessee and Mississippi. Mabel retired as state department of education supervisor of home economics and died in 1990. Chloe Ann's last known (to me) residence is Nashville. She may well still be alive as I haven't found any record of her passing.
